Business Development Manager (Technology)

Job Title: Business Development Manager (Technology) Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Department: Business Development / Sales / Growth

Overview We are seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager (Technology) to drive revenue growth, acquire new clients, and build strategic partnerships in the IT, software services, cloud, SaaS, and digital solutions space. You will lead prospecting, deal closure, and relationship management efforts to expand market presence in Chennai’s thriving tech ecosystem, focusing on enterprise clients, startups, and global accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and target new business opportunities through market research, lead generation, cold calling, networking, and industry events.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets, including proposal preparation, techno-commercial negotiations, and deal closure.
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with key decision-makers (C-level executives, IT heads) in target industries (e.g., manufacturing, BFSI, automotive, healthcare).
  • Conduct client needs analysis, present technology solutions (software development, cloud services, AI/ML, digital transformation), and deliver persuasive pitches/demos.
  • Collaborate with technical/pre-sales teams, marketing, and delivery units to create customized proposals, RFPs/RFIs responses, and proof-of-concepts.
  • Track sales pipeline, forecast revenue, and report on KPIs (leads, conversions, win rates) using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, Zoho).
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to identify growth opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Support post-sales account management, upselling/cross-selling, and client retention to maximize lifetime value.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering (Computer/Electronics/IT), Marketing, or related field (MBA/PGDM preferred for senior roles).
  • 4–10+ years of experience in business development/sales, with at least 3 years in technology/IT/software services (B2B preferred).
  • Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets, client acquisition, and revenue growth in tech domains.
  • Strong understanding of IT services, software development lifecycle, cloud computing, SaaS, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills; proficiency in English (Tamil advantageous).
  • Experience with CRM tools, MS Office, and sales analytics.

Preferred

  • Experience selling to enterprise clients, international markets (US/UK/EU), or specific verticals (automotive, manufacturing, BFSI).
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), AI/ML, cybersecurity, or digital products.
  • Certifications in sales (e.g., Certified Sales Professional) or tech domains (e.g., AWS Sales Accreditation).
  • Prior experience in Chennai’s IT/services sector or with global capability centers.

Compensation: Competitive (₹10–28 LPA based on experience).
